Michael Jackson Statue Unveiled In Las Vegas

A 10-foot-tall Michael Jackson statue was unveiled yesterday in the Mandalay Bay lobby in Las Vegas. The statue is on loan from the Estate of Michael Jackson. In 1994, Michael commissioned sculptor Diana Walczak to create the statue which became the inspiration for the cover image of his 1995 album ‘HIStory: Past Present and Future Book1.’

The album spurned many hits including ‘Scream,’ ‘You Are Not Alone,’ ‘Earth Song’, ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ and ‘Stranger In Moscow.’ The album went on to become the biggest selling double album of all time.

Mandalay Bay is currently playing host to ‘Michael Jackson ONE’ by Cirque du Soleil, where members from the cast of the show delivered a never-before-seen performance created especially for this event, dazzling the audience as they performed to ‘Scream,’ the first single from the ‘HIStory’ album.

Watch the full performance from Cirque du Soleil:

“There’s a reason why Michael Jackson’s spirit still lives on,” said Jerry Nadal, Senior Vice President, Resident Shows Division at Cirque du Soleil. “It’s the passion and love behind every song he created. It’s the soundtrack he delivered to an entire generation and beyond.”
