Captain EO To Close In Disneyland

Michael’s Disney 3D movie, Captain EO, is due to temporarily close at Disneyland in California.

The short movie, directed by George Lucas and also starring Anjelica Huston, originally ran in Disney theme parks from 1986 to 1996. However the popular spectacle returned in 2010, shortly after Michael’s death, in tribute to him.

The film features ‘We Are Here To Change The World’, which was subsequently released on the 2004 ‘Ultimate Collection’ and ‘Another Part Of Me’, which was written for the movie and also ended up being a single from the 1987 ‘Bad’ album as well as one of Michael’s most beloved hits. Though referred to as a 3D movie, in its true form it’s known as 4D, as it has interactive elements such as lasers and smoke.

The show will temporarily close to make way for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, which is a 3D preview of the film with the same name, coming out in August and what’s sure to be a summer blockbuster. It will be shown in the special Magic Eye Theater in Tomorrowland, where Captain EO is typically shown. The King of Pop’s Captain EO is expected to return at a later date.
