‘Thriller Live’ To Chase West End Record
The West End production of ‘Thriller Live’ at the Lyric Theatre has announced an extension to 19 Apr 2015. The show has now played over 2,173 performances and was previously booking until 24 Sep 2014.
The Michael Jackson musical originally opened in January 2009 at the Lyric Theatre, and has broken records for the longest running show at the venue.
Nimax Theatres’ Chief Executive Nica Burns was delighted to announce the extension, saying:
“Thriller Live brings people together from all walks of life to celebrate the genius of Michael Jackson and his incredible music. They go home singing and dancing…”
Producer Derek Nicol commented on the departure of similar rock-concert show ‘We Will Rock You’ after 12 years in the West End, stating that ‘Thriller Live’ would now aim to chase their “phenomenal and enviable record.”
‘Thriller Live’ is directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd, and is produced by Paul Walden and Derek Nicol for Flying Music in association with Adrian Grant for Key Concerts. It originally opened at the Lyric Theatre on 21 Jan 2009, following previews from 2 Jan and is currently booking until 19 Apr 2015.
