Lady Wins Bigtime On Michael’s Slots
Kathryn Stokes is $1.8 million richer after hitting the jackpot on a Michael Jackson-themed slot machine at Fallsview Casino Resort, in Niagara Falls, Ont., Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
Stokes was playing the casino’s Michael Jackson The King of Pop for approximately one hour before earning herself a jackpot of $1,862,447.25. She saw the Michael Jackson slot machine and knew she wanted to ‘Beat It.’
“It’s unbelievable,” said the 55-year-old. “This is only my second visit to Fallsview Casino. I chose this machine because I love Michael Jackson’s music and I was lucky to win a few hundred dollars the first time I played. This time I put in only $60.”

Stokes, who works in administration with the Peel Regional Police in Brampton, said she’s not a gambler, but decided to tag along with her friend and a legion in Woodbridge, which was making a trip to the casino.
“Huge,” she said when asked if she’s a Jackson fan. “That’s what drew me to it.”
Stokes said she’s still trying to process the big win and is not entirely sure what she wants to do with the money.
“I have no idea at the moment. I’m looking at a brand-new car.”
Niagara Casinos president Art Frank said it’s exciting for a big resort casino such as Fallsview to see such a win.
“The thrill of playing a slot machine is that you just never know how the next spin will settle out,” he said. “Today was clearly Ms. Stokes’ lucky day.”
The largest payout to date at Niagara Casinos was on February 14, 2002, when Doris Wendt of North Tonawanda won $5.6 million.
