Michael On Michael
September 21, 2011
Michael Kenneth Williams, star of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, has spoken to the Wall Street Journal about his life and career and the influence music had on him. From John Travolta and Saturday Night Fever, to dancing in a George Michael video and a Madonna video, his life was dominated by music, until he turned to acting.
Returning to his childhood inspirations, he points to a key figure that had a similar passion for music, dance and film. “I just wanted to be Michael Jackson,” he says. “That was my goal in life, to wake up with a big head of hair and put it into an afro and be Michael Jackson. I was going to change my last name to Jackson. No one would know. I’d just be Michael Jackson, take over his life, and be him.”
