Most Publicised Trial
Without doubt, Conrad Murray’s trial will be watched and commented on throughout the world. Murray’s attorneys requested, unsuccessfully, that the jurors should be sequestered throughout the trial as only one of the potential jurors admitted that she had not heard about the case, and she did not speak English. The Judge later refused to sequester the jury.
The trial will be televised and should last for six to eight weeks.
In their filing, Murray’s lawyers predicted that viewer-ship of the trial on the Internet and television would exceed that for Casey Anthony’s trial, (involving the murder of an infant child) given Michael’s global fame. “There is reasonable expectation that Dr. Murray’s trial will be the most publicised trial in history,” they wrote.
