Surveillance Video Erased
March 16, 2011
Today, lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray will go to court to ask that authorities turn over all of the surveillance videos from Michael’s house. However, the surveillance video of Michael’s home on the day he died has been erased as no one thought this would be a criminal case and it was simply taped over.
The LAPD only copied four minutes of footage – Michael coming home from rehearsal at around 12:30 a.m. on June 25th. When the LAPD obtained the video just after Michael’s death, the case was not a homicide investigation; they merely wanted to establish a timeline.
The police did not look at the rest of the video, which re-records every twenty-four hours.
