‘20 Years 40 Photos’
Ammar Abd Rabbo, is a press photographer of great renown, who was born in Damascus, and has lived in France, since 1978.
His gallery of his work on ‘Flickr,’ which is an online photo management and sharing site, has just reached over one and a half million visits. He has been honored to photograph royalty and celebrities alike, such as Jordan’s Royal Family, the late Benazir Bhutto, the Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, and Michael.
He is now preparing for an exhibition of his work, at the French Cultural Centre in Damascus, entitled ‘20-40, 20 years, 40 photos’. It will run from January 20th to February 13th, and later will be moved to Aleppo’s Hotel, from February 26th to March 8th 2011.
The forty photos will show some moments with privileged access to some of the Arab world’s leaders, as well as some hot news pictures, from Iraq, to Lebanon as well as Louisiana’s, Katrina aftermath. It will also show some entertainment photos, from the Cannes film festival and backstage shots of Michael.
A conference, several guided visits, school visits, as well as partnership with local NGO’s, (non-governmental organizations,) are also scheduled by Ammar. In their monthly diary, the French Cultural Centre in Damascus, has described the exhibition, as an “event!”
