Sony Music Sales
October 28, 2010
Global music sales have been diminishing for some time, even though Digital music should have helped boost the numbers.
However, following Michael’s death in June 2009, Sony Music’s sales increased from a projected loss into a very respectable profit because of the strength of his catalogue of super hits, and the soundtrack from the ‘This Is It’ movie.
Those sales are flattening again, but a new album of Michael’s previously unheard songs is in preparation and could be ready for a Christmas release. It should redeem Sony’s sales again, as they have the rights to release his music for the next seven years.
