‘Nightshift’ Tribute
June 25, 2010
The day Michael died, the Commodores were performing at the Wembley Arena in London, and after their show they heard the sad news that Michael had died. The next evening, they substituted the word “Michael” for Jackie in the song ‘Nightshift,’ and the crowd loved it.
The group has since rewritten, rerecorded and re-released the song to specifically pay homage to Michael.
The Commodores have a history with Michael, as the group that toured with The Jackson 5 in the 1970s.
