US TV Scheduled Tributes
Michael’s anniversary has prompted an outpouring of TV salutes in the US. Here is a list of some of them, but not everything.
The Oprah Winfrey Show – replays Lady Oprah’s thoughts about Michael after his death at 4.00 p.m. on Thursday on WFTV-Channel 9. There will also be portions of her interview with Michael shown.
The Early Show – CBS devotes its 8.00 a.m. hour slot on Friday to Michael. Guests include Smokey Robinson, Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera, LL Cool J and director John Landis. James Morrison will also perform ‘Man in the Mirror’ from London.
MTV – is planning a Michael Jackson Weekend Friday to Sunday. The highlights include ‘Michael Jackson’s Influence on Music’ at 6.30 p.m. on Friday, news segments devoted to him along with all the videos throughout the weekend.
CNN – Don Lemon reports ‘Michael Jackson – The Final Days’ at 8.00 p.m. on Friday. This hour program includes interviews with brothers Tito and Jermaine Jackson.
E! News – Michael’s niece, Genevieve Jackson, talks at 7.00 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. on Thursday about her uncle’s death and how his children are coping.
Dateline NBC – Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, talks about her son’s death and how his children are doing on 9.00 p.m. on Friday.
ABC – 20/20 offers a two hour report – ‘Michael Jackson: After Life’, at 9.00 p.m. on Friday. There will be Interviews with Justin Bieber, Usher and Michael’s makeup artist and wardrobe stylists. There will an update on the investigation of Michael’s death; a new tour of Neverland Ranch and reports on Michael’s legacy and his children.
UK
On Sky television in the UK there are numerous programmes and tributes to Michael throughout the weekend on the music channels, with many on Michael programmes being shown three or four times. It also includes full length versions of some of his videos.
