Salute: The Music Of Michael Jackson

The Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association will present “A Salute to the Music of Michael Jackson” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13th, at Stevenson Auditorium.

DORA executive director Bernice Tribble said general admission tickets are $10 and are available at First Citizen’s Bank on Broughton Street and in the administrator’s office at city hall on Middleton Street. Tickets are also available by calling the DORA office at 803-531-6186.

The event is a “tribute to one of the most influential entertainers of all time,” said Randy Etters, DORA member. “Spanning a career of 40 years, the committee felt almost everyone in the community had been touched by Michael Jackson’s music. Using all local entertainers, the tribute show will highlight some of his most popular music, including ‘ABC,’ ‘Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough,’ ‘Billie Jean,’ ‘Man in the Mirror,’ ‘Thriller’ and more,” he said.

Performers will include acts from South Carolina State University, Claflin University, Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, Denmark Technical College, Mary Jane’s School of Dance and others.

“The tribute is guaranteed to do justice to the music of such a revered icon of pop culture,” Etters said. “The added benefit of this event will be the appeal to such a diverse audience, essentially bringing together the community regardless of age, race or musical tastes.”
