MJ Joins Jay-Z
October 7, 2009
NME’s new issue is dedicated to lost musical icons, and rapper Jay-Z began his remembrance of Michael by speaking about a remix, recorded in 2001, of his track ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’.
He was also looking for a positive spin on Michael’s death, and said “I think it gave Michael a chance to be celebrated for the genius he was without all the other stuff in the way, and I don’t know if that would ever have happened had he been alive…I remember him calling me and him just talking about, you know, ‘syncopation’ and musician stuff like that. The Michael Jackson I knew was just a musician who loved music.”
