Janet Breaks Her Silence
Janet Jackson, Michael’s baby sister, broke her silence, by providing a heart wrenching, in depth, emotional interview about her big brother Michael after almost three months since his tragic death.
In her interview with Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, Janet reminisces about her special memories and the glorious times she shared with Michael.
Janet spoke candidly about Michael’s sense of humour, which she described as being as “dry” and how much he loved to laugh, almost to the point of tears. Janet recalls fondly of how he was a typical big brother and stated that “he was always very protective of me.” In reference to Michael’s infamous, inimitable sense of style, Janet stated that Michael loved anything shiny and with bling. She also revealed that the infamous shiny, sequined jacket Michael wore on Motown 25th Anniversary show, at which he Moonwalked his way into stratosphere of superstardom, actually belonged to their Mum, Katherine.
On his way to the Motown 25th Anniversary event, Michael grabbed the infamous jacket from their mother’s closet.
More poignantly, Janet discusses how much of an inspiration Michael has been to so many people. She talks about the endearing qualities Michael had, for example, how he inspired someone to become an American citizen, humanitarian causes and plight of underprivileged children.
Coping with her brother’s death has been insurmountable for Janet. She reveals that she’s turned to emotional eating and working non-stop, as a form of coping mechanism.
Also in the article, she talks lovingly about her nieces and nephews and said that at the time of Michael’s death, she was working on a movie when she received the horrifying news and she immediately returned to Los Angeles to be with her family.
Finally, Janet explains how she has drawn upon an incredible source of inner strength, in order to cope with the loss of her big brother.
