Madonna Pays Tribute
Madonna opened her ‘Sweet and Sticky’ Tour at the O2 Arena in London last night. As she sang ‘Holiday’ a Michael look-a-like appeared on stage, complete with glove, and moonwalked as ‘Billie Jean’ played, then the music changed again to ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’. Lyrics from ‘Man In The Mirror’ were projected onto a backdrop on stage, reading “…if you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change.”
After the routine finished, Madonna called upon the 17,000 strong crowd: “All right, people! Let’s give it up to one of the greatest artists the world has ever known. Michael Jackson – Long live the King!” The crowd cheered, some wept. She is expected to repeat this at her next show tonight, and also on Tuesday in Manchester.
Shortly after Michael died she said: “I can’t stop crying over the sad news. The world has lost one of its greats.”
