BBC Pulls McCartney’s Impersonation
December 31, 2008
The British newspaper, Daily Telegraph, reports that the BBC has withdrawn an interview with Paul McCartney, as he spoke in a derogative way of Michael, using a high squeaky voice to mimic him and the BBC were concerned it could cause offence.
Explaining the reasoning as to why the impression could possibly be deemed offensive or unsuitable for broadcast, the source continued; “They say it’s a ‘trans-racial impression’, that’s what they say in a memo, and even by Macca that is beyond the pale.”
McCartney continues to bemoan the fact that when he sings Beatles songs he has to pay for the privilege.
